How long do I have to file a car accident claim?
It depends on the state. Many states use a two- or three-year window for injury lawsuits, but Kentucky, Louisiana, and Tennessee are often discussed as one-year states, and claims against government entities can have much shorter notice rules. Check your state page and the statute.
Should I report a minor crash to insurance?
Many policies require prompt notice. A fender-bender with no injury may still need a police or DMV report above a dollar threshold. Read your policy and your state reporting rules before assuming you can “handle it privately.”
